Assembly on Pongal

January 14, 2020

Pongal, widely celebrated in Tamil Nadu State of India at the end of the harvest season, is a thanks giving festival. Students of Grade 6 conducted a colourful assembly expressing gratitude to the Sun, Soil, Water and the Ox. The history of how Pongal celebrations began was shared by the students. Students depicted the varied characters by the rise of masks, and a narrative script was read out by the students.
Pongal mud pots were decorated, and sugarcane was fixed for the function.
Students expressed their joy and happiness by shouting out “Pongolo Pongal” – at the end. It was a great start to the traditional four day festival
