Fire Safety Awareness Session Report

Kikani Vidhya Mandir hosted a comprehensive fire safety awareness session, recognizing the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of students, and staff .The session was conducted by Ideal Gas Service, led by Managing Partner Mr. Adka K. Sreesh, along with his team members, Kishore and Haripriya.

Key Highlights of the Session
1. Introduction and Installation Safety:
Mr. Sreesh began the session by explaining the proper installation techniques for LPG cylinders, emphasizing the importance of placing the cylinder in an upright position. He detailed the components of a cylinder, including the regulator, tube, and QCC cap, and highlighted the potential hazards associated with improper handling.
2. Preventive Measures:
The session covered essential preventive measures to ensure safe usage of LPG. These included:
– Regular inspections and maintenance of LPG PDC (Pressure Decrease Control).
– Proper storage of LPG cylinders, away from sunlight, dust, and rain.
– Ensuring no inflammable materials are placed near the cylinder, and avoiding other connections, stoves, or refrigerators in close proximity.
3. Conservation Tips:
The session provided practical tips on energy conservation, such as
– Cooking in simmer mode.
– Using high-level stove installations compared to cylinder placement.
– Utilizing pressure cookers.
– Soaking pulses and sprouts for faster cooking.

4. PR and Rubber Tube Safety:
Mr. Sreesh explained the importance of ensuring the PR (Pressure Regulator) is properly connected and the regulator is functioning correctly. He also stressed the need to check the rubber tube for any signs of wear and tear and replace it every five years, ensuring it meets the ISI Suraksha standards.
5. Stove and Kitchen Safety:
Additional safety tips included:
– Ensuring the stove has an ISI mark and is placed at a higher level than the cylinder.
– Keeping the stove clean and ensuring it produces a blue flame.
– Checking if the stove functions correctly at both high and simmer settings.
– Maintaining proper kitchen ventilation and ensuring there is no use of multiple fuel connections.
6. Emergency Protocols:
The session concluded with guidelines on emergency procedures, including contacting the all-India customer care number (1906) in case of any LPG-related issues.
Interactive Q&A Session:
An interactive Q&A session followed, where students raised their concerns and misconceptions about LPG safety. Mr. Sreesh and his team provided clear explanations, reinforcing the importance of regular safety checks and proper handling practices.
