‘The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others’ – Mahatma Gandhi
The Joy of Giving week was celebrated with diligent planning and execution. The traditional practice was altered this year by providing essentials for the needy instead of food. A circular was sent out to parents and students a week prior, where the essentials were categorized grade-wise. The students of grade XI and XII did a campaign wherein awareness of the need to contribute to society was created. The immense support from students and parents resulted in an abundant collection of essentials. The students then segregated the essentials and visited the Municipal Corporation Old Age Home at R S Puram, which is run by the Government of Tamilnadu on the 15th of October 2022. The inmates were elders, abandoned street vendors, bedridden, young children and also people with disability and injuries. They distributed the essentials to the inmates individually and then spent time interacting with them. It was heartening to hear their stories and it was a pleasure to watch their happiness while receiving the essentials. Snacks were also distributed which they relished. The whole process was well documented and here is the link to view it.
