JAL SHAKTI ABHIYAN-2024

INTRODUCTION:
World water day 2024 was celebrated on March 22nd. It’s a day to raise awareness about the importance of freshwater and advocate for the sustainable management of water resources. Anticipating its need, our school took an initiative to create awareness and make changes in and around school premises including their family for one working month till April 22nd. Over 1297 students along with their family and 105 staff members actively participated in various activities which was initiated by the Water Squad Team.

JAL DOOT ACTIVITIES:
• Water dripping Analysis:
The students went around the campus and analysed all the taps for leakage or dripping. A list of leaking taps were identified and it was fixed by the higher officials.
• Dry Holi Celebration:
Dry Holiwas celebrated in our school campus as an initiative to practice water-conserving alternative. As our city particularly is facing water scarcity, it served as an awareness to conserve and use water wisely.
• Water day pledge:
The water day oath was taken by the students, staffs and their family members. They pledged themselves to follow all the water conserving practices and save water for us and the future generation
• Family water meter:
A Google form questionnaire with 10 questions about water practices as a family was formulated and sent to the parents to analyse the usage of water and thus as a family how each family can conserve and reuse water
• Water bell for students:
Reminder for drinking water every one hour was done by the squad members emphasizing the need to stay hydrated

JAL SHALA ACTIVITIES:
• Campaign inside the campus :
The water squad students went around the classes and told the students about the importance of saving water and conserving it.
• Siruthuli workshop for staffs:
The programme focussed on conserving water in the city Coimbatore, and raising awareness on the shortage of water. As a school how much water can be conserved was also emphasized.
• Siruthuli workshop for students:
The programme “ ThuliThiliyaiSiruthuliyai” gave 12 steps of conserving water as a student. Students actively participated in the workshop and stated their opinions on the same.
• Water water treatment plant- visit:
The students were taken on a field trip to Ukkadam waste water treatment plant and we emphasised on the importance of re-using and re-cycling the waste water.
• Water conservation flyers:
Students started spreading the 12 ways of conserving water by sticking the flyers inside the school campus especially near the water taps and washrooms.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:
• Daily awareness on the water scarcity in the city
• Handmade flyers for conserving water
• Mudpot counter for sustainable drinking practices
• Water for birds during summer
• Water day assembly
