CPR AWARENESS PROGRAMME
Grave consequences from any medical emergency can be averted by implementing effective and correct first aid. “A stitch in time saves nine” is an apt example for timely first aid. In this era of stressful life, where any individual is a vulnerable victim to a probable heart attack, awareness about proper first aid is inevitable. In its aim to educate children all round, Kikani Vidya Mandir organised an awareness programme regarding CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR). CPR when administered effectively helps in saving the brain and other vital organs when blood circulation stops due to ineffective functioning or stopping of heart beat. Dr.Siddha S C Chakra Rao and Dr. Selvarajan along with their team members addressed the gathering comprising of Principal Mrs. Geeta Raj, Vice Principal Mrs.Jayalatha Rosalin, AO sir, Lead teachers, faculties and students of Grade 7 to Grade 12.
Dr.Siddha S C Chakra Rao is the pioneer of establishing Comprehensive Resuscitation Training centers in India. He has laid the Indian guidelines of Resuscitation through Indian Society of Anesthesiologists, brought out Compression only Life Support and imparted free CPR training programmes in schools and laymen throughout the country. Dr. Selvarajan, Paediatric Laparoscopic Surgeon, who has rendered and established medical service in hill regions, one of the earliest to start Paediatric Laparoscopy in India.
The entire gathering was given a one to one training upon how to administer CPR on an unconscious person. Everyone who attended the event carried with them the confidence about being able to save a life.
