TAMIL NADU’S ROAD SAFETY DESIGN HACKATHON
A first of its kind state-level Road Safety Design Hackathon for school and college students was jointly organized by DJ Academy of Design (DJAD), Coimbatore and Uyir, a Coimbatore based NGO. The hackathon was held on the 18th and 19th of November 2023, on an online platform. The participants from various educational institutions from all over Tamil Nadu, were grouped into 3 categories. Grade 8-10, Grade 11-12 and UG/PG students. A special session was held where the students were introduced to the concept of Design-Thinking, importance of Empathy and Chat GPT to arrive at solutions for the road safety issues faced. About 170 teams with about 750 students participated with innovative ideas to avert road accidents that occur due to jeopardy of usage of safety gear and other issues like potholes.
On 23rd January the winners were felicitated in a function presided over by Coimbatore City Police Commissioner, Managing Trustee of GKD Charity Trust and other dignitaries.
It is pride to announce hereby that our Kikanians, Pavizhan M S, Jitesh Kumar S and Meet Talapara from Grade 8 won the second prize in the contest.
