Industrial visit to Nilgiris Biosphere National Park (NBNP)

“We must take every measure to protect nature’s treasure. The lives in the wild are nature’s greatest gift to us.”

Objective:

Its objective is to promote environmental awareness through Conservation Education. The park serves as an interpretation center for the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve (NBR). It focuses its attention mainly on the fauna and flora of the area. It also serves as a research institution with an emphasis on the conservation of endangered and endemic flora and fauna.

Grade 7 went on an industrial visit to NBNP – Nilgiris Biosphere National Park with 107 students and 8 staff. The students were so excited and happy to know more about the place.

The park is a home to most unique and mesmerizing species of flora and fauna. It was surrounded by red plant bugs, ants, fishes, and many living creatures.

Rare species of plants with intrinsic medicinal values are grown here to raise awareness and learn more about the fascinating world of herbal plants in Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Traditional knowledge about these plants was passed on by word of mouth from generation to generation. Butterflies are indicators of a healthy ecosystem and are often portrayed as the essence of nature. We experienced the magic of butterfly garden, as butterflies are a part of our natural heritage, they have the right to exist as much as other species on the planet.

During an educational trip, students get a chance to interact with what they are learning or have learned. Students can participate in the theories and concepts practically and the experience is not just limited to reading about the subject.
