TRIP TO AGRICULTURE UNIVERSITY, INSECT MUSEUM & BOTANICAL GARDEN

Place of Visit – Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, Insect Museum & Botanical Garden.

An educational trip was organized by Kikani Vidhya Mandir for grade 2 students to Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, Insect Museum & Botanical Garden. Students were excited to see all the preserved insects such as Ants, Beetles, Butterflies, Cockroaches, Etc. They gained knowledge about the migration of monarch butterflies, the life cycle of butterflies, and by-products of insects such as silk, lac, honey, Etc. Seeing the life cycle of silkworms was so exciting for the students. Students gathered information about the diseases caused by insects to humans, plants as well as animals, through which they could know about the importance of hygiene. A volunteer from the museum guided students and explained varieties of insects and he also briefed on various insects which are found around us.

Students got an opportunity to see the videos of praying Mantis and lifecycle of mosquitoes. Our next destination was Botanical Garden. Students were playing in the park witnessing various types of plants, trees, herbs, shrubs, and climbers. Numerous studies have shown that being outdoors is good for mental health, memory, and attention for the students. Overall, it was an enriching experience for our students as field trips promote their mental health.
